Frequently Asked Questions

  • NO. This year each contestant age 5 and up is required to compete in both interview and formalwear, which requires you to be present both Saturday and Sunday of pageant weekend.

  • Each division winner is awarded multiple opportunities throughout the year.  The only requirements are the queens' photoshoot, held the weekend following the pageant, and to be present at next year’s pageant to crown your successor.

  • No. Each winner is awarded a free entry into the Miss Texas pageant that is held in Houston in November, but this is optional. If you win and do choose to compete at Miss Texas, we will guide you every step of the way.

  • Yes.  Each contestant that participates in our preliminary pageant will have the opportunity to compete at Miss Texas at a discounted rate. (Our crowned Queens will receive their entry for free and will go under the city title of "Mid-County")

  • Yes. This year's pageant will be continuous with only a 20-minute intermission between the Jr. and Sr. divisions. At the conclusion of the Sr. division crowning, all Queens will gather on stage for photos.

  • No. Contestants will be judged on overall appearance and not the gown itself. You should focus on the fit and style of the gown, rather than how expensive or fancy it is.  Find something that is age appropriate, fits well, and flatters your contestant.

  • No. Fun Fashion can be any outfit of your choice.  Most often seen are capes, high-low dresses, rompers, and cocktails.  This is your time to show off your personality and get as fancy as you would like.

  • Yes. Small hand-held props such as a purse, hat, sunglasses, etc. are allowed. Large props are not encouraged.

  • No.  The optional show will have a completely different set of judges and will have no bearing on the Queen.

  • The judges will be provided exactly what is printed in the handbook and it will be at their discretion to take off points where they see fit. Our suggestion is to always follow every rule provided.

  • The judges will be provided the exact stage pattern as listed in the handbook and it will be at their discretion to take off points where they see fit.  Our suggestion is to always follow the stage patterns.  Part of being a well-rounded contestant is following directions and rules that are provided.

  • Pageants are subjective and each judge will score each contestant differently. What may be considered an experienced pageant girl to one judge, may differ to another.  Remember that you are competing against the score sheet and not the other contestants. Always be uniquely you.

  • We work very hard to get extremely experienced and qualified judges for Miss MCM. Prior to the pageant, we hold a one-hour closed-door meeting with our judges to discuss the handbook in its entirety and to make sure that they understand each rule and regulation.

  • After competing for over six years at the state and national pageants, this system has brought the absolute best opportunities, as well as positive and fun experiences for our girls.  We started Miss MCM with the intention of giving Southeast Texas a taste of what big pageantry has to offer and we are excited to bring a little bit of that big pageantry to our little town.
